About Our Team

Our Facility Services team, comprised of approximately 60 skilled tradespeople, services British Columbia's largest geographical school district area spanning as far North as Mackenzie and East to Valemount. We ensure that all of School District 57 facilities are maintained to district standards and regulatory requirements.

Facilities Services is responsible for managing and maintaining the following functions:

  • School grounds and equipment
  • Maintenance services to schools and other District owned facilities
  • Engineering and maintenance advice to school administrators concerning school equipment and operation
  • Project management services for new school construction and renovation
  • Management of security services
  • Energy Conservation
  • Safety and Environmental Programs

These functions are accomplished through the combined efforts of a wide network of administrators and support staff that perform specific functions as designated by the superintendent in implementing policies established by the Board of School Trustees.

Our general objective is to systematically plan and schedule facility maintenance to safeguard our capital investments, extend the useful life of the facilities, promote health and safety, and provide an appropriate environment for all that utilize the facilities.

Ventilation Systems at the School Level

The below document is provided to share information on ventilation systems at the school level.  This includes information on how systems meet requirements for regular inspection and maintenance, and additional mitigations that have been put in place to promote student and staff safety throughout the pandemic.

Cascade Facilities Management Ltd was engaged in January 2014 by School District No. 57 to develop a Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP, also referred to by the Ministry as the School District Facilities Plan) in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Ministry of Education. The LRFP is to form, over a ten-year timeframe, the basis for investment decisions and the rationale for project proposals submitted in the School District's 5-year Capital Plan.

The LRFP will guide the School District and the Ministry to make decisions over the long term to ensure cost-effective operations of existing facilities and investments in capital projects. It is to include:

* examination of community demographics,

* review of the condition of existing facilities and their capacity,

* projections of population and enrolment to 2023/24,

* estimated capacity utilization, and

* analysis of surplus properties.
